The Town of Fort White is located directly off several main thoroughfares; US Hwy. 27, US Hwy. 47, and CR 18, making it a desirable location for growth. In addition, Fort White is near several State Parks, three (3) major rivers, and crystal-clear springs, some with underwater caves all of which provide many recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, swimming, diving, spelunking, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, bird watching, hiking, biking, etc.

Fort White provides a small town, close-knit environment and is an excellent place to raise a family or reside in a less hectic environment. Fort White is located between Lake City (25 miles north) and Gainesville (30 miles south), where there are many restaurants, movies, culture centers, museums, shopping, and excellent healthcare provided by VA Hospital, Shands/UF Hospital, Lake City Medical Center, and North Florida Regional Hospital.

Fort White is located within Columbia County, with Lake City, Florida being the County Seat.  Lake City is home to Gateway College and St. Leo College and the VA Hospital. Gainesville is home to Santa Fe College and the University of Florida, home of the Gators, and many nationally ranked sporting teams.

The town's population in 2019 was estimated at approximately 600 residents.
